Honourable Rachel Taylor
Rachel Taylor has dedicated her career to advancing education, youth empowerment, and community well-being across the Turks and Caicos Islands. With over 20 years of experience in education, including her role as principal of Enid Capron Primary School, Rachel is widely recognized for her compassionate, child-centered approach and her commitment to equitable access to learning. Her leadership at the school included creating inclusive spaces that allowed children from all backgrounds to thrive, promoting holistic learning through sports, arts, and academic achievement.
As Minister of Education, Youth, Sports, and Social Services, Rachel has spearheaded key initiatives such as the National Unemployment Benefits Program, the TCI Career Bridge Program, and free access to the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College, which have expanded educational and employment opportunities for young Islanders. She also played a significant role in implementing a living wage policy to support vulnerable populations, including a School Nutrition Program and a National Child Day Care initiative.
Rachel’s commitment to addressing community challenges extends to initiatives aimed at reducing youth crime, like the “Reaching the Streets” program, which trains community members to support at-risk youth. Since her election in February 2021, Hon.
